During the heat of the day, we stop at one of the scenic camps for lunch where the restaurant overlooks the Sabie River. Or at Skukuza Golf Club – a magnificent 9-hole (18 tee) golf course on the outskirts of Skukuza Camp. Since the course is not fenced in, interesting spectators are a common sight and resident hippos in the dam are a delight to observe.
The day will be over all too soon and towards late afternoon, we’ll head back to your hotel. As the sun begins to set, keep your eyes open though… this is when the predators like hyenas and leopards start their day. Late afternoon: Return to hotel / lodge

The animals get off to an early start, so we do too! Board our Open Safari Vehicle before entering the Kruger as the gates open. It’s the perfect time to spot predators on the hunt, maybe a pride of lions with cubs or a leopard – sights that will remain etched in your memories.
After taking a break for lunch, board the vehicle to further explore the truly amazing Kruger National Park. Along the way, your guide’s incredible knowledge of the bush and its inhabitants will enthral and entertain you. Open safari vehicles are fitted with 2-way radios, enabling communication of the best wildlife sightings.
Our exclusive and personalised safaris are all about quality sightings, endeavouring not only to see the ‘Big 5’, but also to point out and explain the smaller things that the untrained eye would never notice. As the sun begins to fade, we head back to the hotel and arrive late afternoon.
Day 5 – a choice of adventure activities or an endangered wildlife tours
Quad Bike Trails, Hazyview
Our Quad biking adventure will exceed all your expectations. Trails run through the most scenic Sabie River Valley, winding along the Sabana River, indigenous vegetation, mountain hills and other streams. The tracks vary from technical to very easy, so we have something to offer the expert as well as the beginner! Halfway we have a quick stop for refreshments before we get back to serious Quad Biking.
White Water Rafting – Sabie River
The Sabie River provides 20 rapids (grade 2–3) with areas of scenic vegetation and outstanding wildlife viewing. This 8 km route is yielding to the novice, yet accommodating to the thrill seeker within all of us. Swimming, sliding and wave surfing with a boogie board at “Lions rock”. Duration: Half Day – 2.5 hours, cold beverages and snacks included.
Other adventures include Helicopter Flight over Blyde River Canyon and waterfalls; Abseiling – for the thrill seeker; River Rafting; Geckoiing – one of the best adventure activities. This is probably the best way to descend a low volume river like the Sabie. A Gecko is a very small raft that you steer with webbed gloves, no paddles needed.
